Your Grand Canyon gateway begins at our 290 sq ft. (27 m2) tiny house, designed with both sustainability and luxury in mind. Here, you can enjoy the beauty of off-grid living without sacrificing comfort. Every inch of our property screams adventure and relaxation with a queen-sized Nectar mattress for a restful sleep and a convertible full-sized couch for the additional 2 guests. All our bedding is 100% cotton, ensuring maximum comfort after your day trips. The kitchen features a 4.5 cu ft (127 liter) fridge with a small freezer, single-burner cooktop stove, toaster, and utensils perfect for making delicious meals. Enjoy your meals inside or opt for an al fresco dining on the outdoor patio. Notice no microwave, oven or dishwasher. There are also options for coffee lovers with Nespresso and Keurig pods provided, as well as a reusable pod for your own ground coffee. A tea pot and various tea options are also provided. We did not forget the sugar, substitutes and shelf stable creamers. Our bathroom, unlike those typically found in off-grid properties, is indoors featuring a full-size shower with hot water, a sink, and a hairdryer. We also provide soaps, shampoo, and towels. The outdoor deck features a gas BBQ grill, a fire pit, and Adirondack chairs providing the perfect spot to unwind, stargaze, or enjoy your morning coffee with an awe-inspiring backdrop of the sprawling wilderness. Note that this tiny house is designed to withstand all weather conditions. Whether it's the bright summer sun or cold winter nights, our central heating system and infrared reflecting walls ensure your stay is comfortable throughout the year. A portable air conditioning is available for hot days. Our modern, off-grid amenities are intertwined seamlessly with environmental considerations. The house is powered by a solar array making your stay guilt-free while also offering a high-speed internet service for those wishing to stay connected. This space is pet-friendly, but we do ask that pets are cleared with us in advance for the health and safety of all guests and animals. The property is at 6,000 feet (1,800 m) in elevation, so please be sure to bring warm layers even in the summer. This is an off-grid experience and use of the air conditioning after dark is restricted to conserve power; however temperatures do cool significantly at sundown. The wall-to-wall windows allow for breathtaking views of 12,600 ft (3,800 m) high ancient volcanoes of the San Francisco. The dramatic picture windows face southeast, providing dramatic sunrise views. If you're not an early riser, the light-blocking shades and curtains will keep the place nice and dark until you're ready to wake. Guests will have exclusive access to the entire house and our expansive 15-acre property, promising total privacy. Check-in is made easy with a private keypad entrance. There are no other tiny houses on our property. We do ask that you do not disturb our on-site caretakers who are 500 ft (150 m) north of the tiny house. The driveway to the tiny house is private and is not used by the caretakers when guests are on the property. The property is a short 5-minute drive (0.75 miles or 1.2 kM) from the highway on a dirt road that can be driven with a regular 2WD car most of the time, except after heavy rains or snow, then a 4WD will be necessary. Check with us prior to arrival for road status. If needed we can refer you to a local shuttle service that will take you between the property and a parking lot for a fee. The nearest towns with groceries and restaurants are Tusayan to the north (by the Grand Canyon National Park entrance) and Williams to the south (on I-40). Both require about a 30-minute drive. Williams has one Safeway (Vons) and Tusayan has a well-stocked general store. Flagstaff is the largest city and is 1 hour away. You can easily stock up in Williams or Flagstaff prior to arrival at the property. You can get firewood and some basics in Valle (also known as Grand Canyon Junction), which is a 10-minute drive from the property, there's a hardware store, a gas station with a convenience store, a hotel, a restaurant, and an RV park with a small store. Upcoming holidays like Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day can be spent exploring nearby attractions like the Raptor Ranch, Flintstone's Bedrock City and the Lava River Caves; or simply unwind by the fire pit, basking in the Arizona sun. Our proximity to the Grand Canyon makes this the perfect base for those epic hiking and sightseeing day trips. WEATHER NOTES: Summers tend to be sunny with some rain and thunder in the afternoons (known as monsoon season), which often produce dramatic rainbows and clouds, as well as a nice cooling effect on hot days. The summer average lows tend to be in the lower 60s (15 C) and highs in the mid-80s (29 C), with temperatures cooling rapidly at sundown. Winters average 74 inches (188 centimeters) of snowfall, with lows in the lower 20s (-6 C) and highs in the low 40s (5 C). Spring and fall are dry with lows in the mid-40s (7 C) and highs in the mid-60s (18 C). July and August are the rainiest months. While high winds occur throughout the year, March through mid-June is the windiest period. Bring layers and warm clothes at any time of the year - we're at 6,000 feet (1,800 m) in elevation, and the weather here is somewhat unpredictable. Do not count on the weather forecast to be accurate.
